Word 2010 – Live Previewing Your Format Options Before You Apply Them

Thank you for joining us today. I’m Rudy Stebih and welcome to Episode 4 – Live Previewing here on Help Desk TV.

Live previewing allows you to see the results of a menu item or gallery choice before actually making the choice. Here’s how live previewing works:

Move the pointer over an option in a gallery or drop-down list and glance at your page. You can see the results of highlighting the option in real time. For example, you can see the different font choices available for your use. You can also see how the different font sizes affect your page before selecting the size or preview several styles before making your choice.

You can decide whether choosing that option is worthwhile without choosing the option first or repeatedly trying commands until you get it right.

A mini-toolbar is a ghostlike toolbar that appears on-screen to help you do a task. For example, selecting text will show you a ghostlike mini-tool bar. Move the pointer over the mini-toolbar, and it ceases being ghostlike. Now you can select an option from a drop-down list or click a button on the mini-toolbar to complete a task.

I hope you enjoyed todays Help Desk TV. If you have a comment about this program, a question, or a shortcut you would like to share with me, send an e-mail message to me at feedback@helpdesktv.ca
